Why This Compressor Stands Out

Engineered with the same optimization principles used by professional PDF suites, our compressor combines several proven techniques to shrink files while protecting readability — and it keeps working even when a PDF is encrypted or unusual.

  • Three Tuned LevelsLight, Recommended and Extreme — each pre-tuned with optimal DPI and JPEG quality so you never guess settings.
  • Encrypted PDF SupportOwner-locked files open directly; user-password files prompt for the password and then compress normally.
  • Per-Page Fault ToleranceIf a single page cannot be re-encoded, the original page is preserved automatically so the whole job still finishes.
  • Image DownsamplingPage raster resolution is reduced to the right DPI for the chosen level, the single biggest factor in PDF size.
  • JPEG RecompressionEmbedded images are re-encoded at a tuned quality factor to remove redundant data without visible artifacts.
  • Structure OptimizationOutput uses PDF object streams and compressed cross-reference tables per ISO 32000 for a leaner file.
  • Metadata StrippingUnneeded producer, creator and XMP metadata is removed to trim extra bytes from the document.
  • Before / After ComparisonSee exact original size, compressed size, megabytes saved and percentage reduction at a glance.
  • Live Progress BarReal-time page-by-page progress so you always know how long compression will take.
  • 100% PrivateFiles never leave your device. Perfect for contracts, invoices, IDs and confidential reports.
  • Device-Aware LimitsThe maximum file size adapts to your device's memory so compression never crashes the tab.
  • Free ForeverNo sign-up, no limits, no ads, no watermarks — a genuinely free professional tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The ASLI FORM PDF Compressor is 100% free forever. There is no registration, no daily limit, no trial period, no advertisement overlay and no watermark added to your output. You can compress as many PDFs as you need, on any device.
No — never. All compression happens locally inside your browser using client-side JavaScript (PDF.js for rendering and pdf-lib for rebuilding the file). Your PDF does not leave your device at any point, which makes the tool safe for confidential, legal, medical and business documents.
Yes. PDFs that are locked with an owner password (print/copy restrictions) open directly. PDFs that require a user password to open will trigger a password prompt; the password is used only inside your browser and is never transmitted. If you cancel the prompt, compression is simply skipped for that file.
It depends on the content. Image-heavy PDFs such as scans, photo documents, brochures and presentations typically shrink 50–90% on the Recommended or Extreme level. Text-only PDFs see smaller gains because there are fewer images to optimize. The before/after panel always shows your exact result.
The engine combines several techniques that follow the ISO 32000 PDF specification:
  • Image downsampling — reducing page raster resolution (DPI) to the level's target.
  • JPEG recompression — re-encoding images at a tuned quality factor.
  • Object-stream optimization — compacting the internal PDF object graph.
  • Cross-reference stream compaction — a leaner index of objects.
  • Metadata stripping — removing unneeded producer/creator/XMP data.
The limit adapts to your device to protect its memory: up to 500MB on desktop, 200MB on tablet and 100MB on phones. The exact limit for your current device is shown directly under the upload box and in the hero stats. This prevents the browser tab from running out of memory on very large files.
On Light and Recommended the visual difference is negligible on screen and in everyday printing. Extreme prioritizes the smallest size, so fine text and detailed images may look slightly softer — it is best for email attachments and web uploads where minor quality loss is acceptable.
The tool is built to be fault-tolerant. If a particular page cannot be re-encoded for any reason, that page is automatically kept from the original so the rest of the document still compresses and the download always completes — you will never get a hard failure on a valid PDF.
For image-based pages, the most effective size reduction re-encodes the page as an optimized image (the same approach used by the major online compressors), so that page's text becomes part of the image. For text-only PDFs the engine prefers a structural optimization pass that keeps vector text selectable. If you must keep selectable text everywhere, retain your original file and use the compressed version only for sharing and uploading.
Yes. The interface is fully responsive and works on smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops across Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. You can upload from your camera roll, file manager, email or cloud storage, and the layout adapts cleanly from small keypad screens to large displays.
Compressing a PDF helps you stay under email attachment limits (often 25MB), meet portal upload caps for jobs, tenders and admissions, speed up web loading, save storage and bandwidth, and share documents faster on mobile networks — all without re-creating the document.
