Frequently Asked Questions

The preview now renders the actual watermark live on the page you're viewing, using the exact same geometry as the downloaded file. If a page is outside your selected page range, the preview correctly shows it without a watermark — flip pages with the navigator to confirm. Toggle “Show watermark” off to see the clean original and on to see the result.
Yes. When a locked PDF is detected, a secure in-browser dialog asks for the password. The file is decrypted locally with PDF.js and never transmitted. Because the source is encrypted, the output for that file is rendered as high-resolution images (selectable text isn't preserved in this case), and a notice appears under the preview.
Yes — type a password in “Protect output with password”. The saved PDF will then be encrypted (via jsPDF) and require that password to open. Encrypted output is image-based, so the “keep text selectable” option is automatically disabled while a password is set.
No. Every step — decryption, rendering, watermarking, encryption — runs inside your browser using pdf-lib, PDF.js and jsPDF. No file bytes ever leave your device, and we use no analytics or tracking.
For normal (unencrypted) PDFs without an output password, the watermark is added as a true vector layer by pdf-lib, so text stays selectable and quality is preserved. Encrypted sources or password-protected outputs use high-DPI (≈180 DPI) image rendering instead.
Use “Apply to pages”: all, first, last, odd, even, or a custom range such as 1-3, 7, 9-12. The live preview respects this — pages outside the range show no watermark so you can verify exactly what will be saved.
